Nestled in the heart of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, West Lake (Xihu) is a cultural and natural landmark that has captivated visitors for centuries. Last summer, I had the privilege of photographing some of its most stunning views, with a particular focus on the Jixian Pavilion—an iconic structure that stands gracefully over the calm waters of the lake. The breathtaking beauty of this site is made even more magical during sunset, when the warm glow of the setting sun paints the sky in vivid hues, perfectly complementing the tranquil landscape.

As the day draws to a close, the landscape transforms into a dreamlike scene of serenity. The Jixian Pavilion, with its intricate rooflines and ornate design, becomes even more mesmerizing as the sun sets behind it. The silhouettes of tourists can be seen admiring the view, capturing the moment on their smartphones, as the pavilion’s reflection shimmers on the water’s surface.

I took several shots during the golden hour, when the warm hues of the sunset bathed the pavilion and the surrounding landscape in soft light. This is when the true essence of the place emerges—peaceful, timeless, and full of cultural significance.
